Hey guys having trouble with my a14 it had a blown head gasket and paid a mechanic to replace it and he machined the head. I have only driven it twice since then ( no more then 50km) and I checked the oil and oil cap and on top of the cap it has thick white oil ?? Is this another blown head gasket ? Could water get into the oil if something wasn't hooked up properly ?? It's not getting hot at all Any info would help a lot cheers

can happen from condensation, but more likely left over water from last head gasket, i would give it an oil change and drive for half an hour then check again, keep an eye on temp for issues though

when you replace your headgasket, do you replace your oil? i too think this is because of leftover water inside oil gallery. change oil again, and drive for a while and see your oil. do you have any coolant loss?

was the head pressure tested for cracks or was it just machined on head gasket surface.

No coolant loss maybe went down a little but not getting any hotter then 1/4 on gauge and the oil and filter was changed the head was only machined not crack or pressure tested

Then you most probably have a cracked head champ

a little white film on the oil cap is most likely NOT a cracked head or head gasket problem. Just leftover condensation.
Water mixed with the oil in the sump is bad.

Dump the oil and go get some diesel engine oil with as close to the visc. rating as you can find, dump the oild and filter, fill it up with diesel engine oil and go for a drive to your nearest radiator place, and ask them to check the gass content of your coolant.
Reasons - if its blown a head, that is the quickest way to find out. Also, diesel engine oil has a massive amount of detergents in it, to help deal with the sodium and particulates that accumulates in the sump, making it a perfect "running in" oil for petrol engines. You can view topic.
