#1 No Temperature Guage Reading
B110SSS Posted on: 2012/8/27 7:01
Hi Guys,
Just dragged the SSS out for a drive today and had the temp guage reading on the low side for quite some time until I gave it a wind up and the guage has stopped reading at all!
Have checked the obvious- the wire connection to the sender unit in the head and all seems fine.
Do the sender units play up from time to time of is there something else that I should be checking?
Cheers
Dave

I'd probably suspect the sender itself 9 times out of 10 (well 9 times out of 10 'after' you check the wire hasn't popped off, which you have already done!)

It's also possible on some engines (and I have to be honest and say I've not seen it on a datto, but it might theoretically be possible - is you can get an air pocket around the sender so it reads artificially low (or as if it wasn't reading at all!)

I'd go the sender for sure.

'Unfamilia',
Thanks for your reply.
Would you have any idea of the make ( or better still part no. ) of the sender unit as I am drawing a big blank over here.
I tried to get one last year from BNT and it was the wrong pitch thread when it arrived so I tried Super Cheap and after much checking/ double checking the same problem has rared its ugly head even after their supplier assuring them that this was the correct part.
The part that they have come up with is a Tridon part no TTS031.
Do you know if Bursons do mail order?
Cheers
Dave
