Ripped out the J13 engine from my 411 today and want to rip it down and give it a freshen up, or at least have it looked over by a professional. I'm looking at rebuilding the car as a reliable daily for the mrs so if the original motor is no good I'll replace it with an A-series for better range of spares. Basically I would love you to share your experiences/recommendations for reputable mechanics or engine builders preferably in northern suburbs of .SA! Cheers

J15 are available, good motor more reliable than an A15 and used in forklifts. Some come up from time to time for $50 or free on ozdat.

here is an overpriced one but have a look at the exhaust manifold its a work of art. The engine is based on the MG but much better metallurgy and JP quality. Just needs a single SU on that manifold using an adaptor, a mild cam and it will be a good little performer.
