#1 Do I need to shorten strut for Sleeve Kit?
crab45 Posted on: 2012/10/10 8:28
Ok so, I am getting a HSD sleeve kit and blah blah blah cut perch off, weld on threaded sleeve.
I have read somewhere you have to shorten the strut and buy smaller inserts for the sleeve kit so when the car is lowered, there is still travel in the suspension.
I also read somewhere that you only need to do that if you are absolutely dumping the car on the ground, which i wont be.
I am hoping I won't need to shorten the struts, as the inserts I have in the ute atm are literally 2 weeks old and haven't been driven on.

Can anyone clarify that I HAVE to shorten the tube, or if I can just continue on with my current inserts.

Regards, Jacob.

So there should be no problem with welding the sleeve onto the tube, no issues with suspension travel or anything? I'm running 200b struts btw.

Depends how low you want to go, if you want to stay within 30mm of stock height then no, but if you want to go lower then there are many ways you can go!

No point putting coil overs on really with those shocks, if you lower it too much on those then most likely the will bottom out or blow a seal if not short travel shocks.

30mm lowering most the shocks would put up with from my experience with stanza/ 200b ones. Then they bottom out
