Does anyone know if they used any other A series engine in a 1200? Either road or competition but has to be of period IE used when b110 was in production. It doesn’t matter what country it was in any links printed info would be fantastic.

thanks for that,
Do you know if there was ever an A14 used? reason for looking for this info is i'm making plans to build a race car but i need to keep it in with regulations but want to be able to get the biggest engine i can in it but keeping it under 1500cc and try and keep the weight down. The engine can be anything as long as it was used at time of manufacture but can be road/production or an actual race car. So far i know they used A12, L14 and L28(samuri race in UK)

there was a Sukati samuri 1200's built in UK they competed at silverstone and one was clocked at little over 160mph :O these were build by Spike Anderson who created the others(this car was reshelled after the accident and now owned by a friend of mine) and it has a L28 Will upload some pics
![]() I'll dig out pics of friends car too so really i'm looking at either using the L14 or keeping with a A12, Anyone got the specs for the tomei cars?

why use the L14 when you can use an A14, although gbox is alittle stronger, the a14 would work just as effectively plus there is little to no engine mount mods depending if you have the right xmember and engine mount combo.

regs state
ENGINE: 5.7.1. The engine cylinder head and block must be based on the normal production parts and materials as used when the car was manufactured. In the event that an exact original item is unavailable, an alternative block from the same manufacturer may be used, provided that the Eligibility Scrutineer and Competition Secretary are satisfied as to the necessity of the change. 5.7.2. Engines may be rebored up to a maximum of + 0.060" without changing class even if the capacity exceeds the upper limit by the rebore. Where a competitor wishes to exceed the permitted overbore of +0.060" and this raises the engine's capacity above the class limit, the car will be included in the higher capacity class. Stroke must remain standard, and the crankshaft and associated connecting rods material is free. Multivalve cylinder heads are not permitted unless originally fitted as standard. Engine disposition and location must remain as standard and therefore no modifications to the base structure or chassis are allowed. 5.7.3. Stroker engines are not allowed. 5.7.4. Oil lubrication system free. Dry sump systems are permitted. 5.7.5. Water cooling system free. 5.7.6. Induction system: 5.7.6.1. Manifolds and carburetors are free. 5.7.6.2. Superchargers and turbochargers are only permitted if fitted as a standard factory item in period. In this case the engine capacity will be multiplied by a factor of 1.7 to give the capacity of the supercharged or turbocharged engine. Only the original type and size of turbo/super charger may be used, and only the original period method of boost control will be permitted. The Eligibility Scrutineer will measure and seal any such installation if felt necessary. plan on having a chat with the Scrutineer and Competition Secretary to see if i can in fact use a A14 You can view topic.
