Cant get headlights to work
Murvz

Looking for some elec advice. Both my headlights on my 1200 ute have suddenly stopped working. Ive checked my earthing points and I only seem to get 12v between earth and power at the headlight socket when both headlights are disconnected. When testing for voltage with one connected I get 0v. Im sure im overlooking something but its driving me crazy! Any ones advice will come in handy. Feel free to shoot me back any more questions if you need more info!!
Cheers murvz

After the fuse check for dirty connections and the switch as well. If something's not conducting well it'll give those voltage readings.

That's a dirty or loose connection. As soon as a load is put on it, it disconnects.
When the headlight is one, check to see if you STILL have 12V one one side of the fuse.

rather than start a new one, I will hijack this thread
How in sam hell can I find a part number for a std 6 pole RHD light switch? Pretty sure mine is kaput and I want to try and get my hands on a new one. Also, if there are any auto sparkies in Perth looking for a cashie, hit me up via PM. This no headlights caper is driving me fkn insane

A Nissan parts dealer can give you the part number.
Or just wire your headlights on full-time from the IGN circuit. No light switch needed in that case.

That sounds a bit out of my league, electricaly. What I would like to do is just ditch the switch and put in a simple on/off toggle, but like I said, I want a new (or working) switch to try out first and see if it is actually the issue.

I'd get one from the wreckers.
