yep that dredded word.
what are people paying for their modified 1200's. i got qouted $581 for 3rd party property, not including fire and theft. this is under the conditions that i am 20 years old and come under the "unlimited modifications" bracket. oh and theres a pretty high excess ($1650) due to my three speeding fines and of course my age. i dont have a rating ecxept that ive had 3rd party without claim for 2 years which i dont know if that counts for anything. does this sound reasnoble to you guys. i guess its alright only cause i have no choice and this company is pretty much the only one that will insure me here. oh yeah and im not going without insurance as the other day i picked the wrong gear through a dog leg intersection in the wet, trying to cross in front of other cars cause i came from the wrong lane and i kinda got a little understeer, sliding straight over a 2m (6-7ft) traffic island and stopping accross the two lanes on the other side of the road, luckily there was no cars banked up at the lights cause i would have t-boned them pretty hard. but it was pretty funny watching a truck try to pull up as it was coming down that road oh and the people diving into the other lane as i drove up the wrong side of the road trying to get back to the other side of this traffic island. anyway my 1200's in the shed at the moment as i tell myself im working on it so that i dont drive it on the road till i get insurance, even though im in here writing bloody long messages on some internet site. p.s. just in case youre worried about my steering, yes i managed to straigthen the wheels before hitting the island

I was quoted for NZ$460 for NZ$1500 full cover and $750 excess. I had to get unlimited modifications because my mags and tyres are worth more than what they consider the value of the entire car. I decided to stick with my 3rd party NZ$90 a year cover. Apparently the reason the insurance is so high is that parts for the 1200 are too hard to get. In comparison I was able to get full cover on a NZ$2000 1989 Honda Prelude for a mere $200 a year.
By the way I'm 18 and I have a 30% no claims bonus.

How about getting one of your parents to apply for the insurance and have you as a nominated driver, it'll work out heaps cheaper.....I'm 36 and some of my toys are still covered by my Dad's policy!!!
