Greetings to all,
I know Im starting off asking some very simple and boring question's but I have another for you all, sorry. Im a Volunteer Firefighter and just got my ute last weekend. I have 2 keys , door & Ing key. Im wondering if there is some way of one key fitting both ?? The quicker I can get to the station the better it is etc. Its a pain unlocking the door then getting the other key in etc. Any help or idea's would be great , thanks. And yes the door must be kept locked. Regards & Thanks amshaw

Amshaw, I put central locking in my ute and a remote key alarm which unlocks both doors when you press the button. Its quicker an both doors lock. You still need the original door lock key if the unexpected happens and your battery goes flat.

Hmmmm, my 1200 does not have the original ignition! But the key does fit the doors! I guess it's just a wee bit of luck of the drawer!

Hey amshaw, my 73 coupe has one key that fit's both the ignition and the doors. Somebody has probably replaced your ignition switch at some point. But, what you can do is take your ignition switch and one door lock to a locksmith and he will be able to code both to fit one key. Will probably cost less than $20.00.
Hope this helps. roughneck

In a manual it said there is 2 keys because my ute has steering wheel lock on it (1980 Aus ). I know its a small thing to worry about but it is a problem for me.
I will try our local locksmith and see what he thinks, thanks all for the idea's . Regards Andrew (amshaw)

yes, my coupe also has a steering wheel lock, but, all locks use the same key. I am 99% positive that your locksmith will be able to code both cylinders. Good luck.

weird, i dont get it, you guys seem to be only abl to unlock your doors and start youre car with only one or two keys.
weird because any bloody key from anything will open my doors and probably start my car

I'm pretty sure between my two keys I could open any other 1200, the two keys that I have are totally different but they both work on either the doors or the ignition. One night walking to town in a less than sober state unlocked someones 1200, then thought better of borrowing it to get to town!
