#1 S13 fuel system in 1200 coupe tank
SomeDAT Posted on: 2013/10/11 6:26
i had some spare time the other day and decided to combine the cradle and sender unit from an S13 tank into a stock coupe tank.
has anyone had a go at this before?
reason for doing this is to give me an internal fuel pump eliminating surge tank, lifter pump and messy fuel lines.
so far so good.

i know my coupe is for sale and i should be spending time fixing the necessary things but i was keen to see if it could work and seems like it will.

good work.

How much fuel will it use? What I mean is how close to the bottom of the tank will it go and will you be able to use all the fuel in the tank?

Actually it would have been interesting to do that on the Ute

It would have been a better use of space .... now I have to carry the spare around in the tray because the spare tyre space has the skyline tank there .... Oh well I have a 65 liter capacity and plan to buy a space saver tyre for emergencies only.

Yeah Pigdog built me a tank, I have a coupe tank he put a walbro 255 efi pump in and boxed out the bottom of the tank for pump to sit in so it was in like a swirl pot! Have a look in my build pics

I mounted a R31 unit and swirl pot in Ute tank only hassle i had (minor) was it sits up a little higher and touched the tray when refitting but had to cut out a section to get to fuel pump and remade another inspection plate/cover anyway. Had to extend the pump bracket to nearly touch bottom of tank/swirl pot/baffle.

We are going to do the same with wagon tank a bit similar to Coupe tanks size wise but im looking at using a Suzuki swift gti in tank set up there a lot more compact just have to get a beefier pump.

glad to see you guys giving it a go and hope it has worked well. it seemed like a good idea to me which as demacoz said it is a better use of space.
i probably could have sourced a more compact unit but with a cut and weld here and there it seemed to fit nicely.
i have also removed the pot from the S13 tank and welded it into the coupe tank. the pump filter is sitting about 1mm off the base of the tank so shouldnt have any problems collecting fuel when low.
any one know the capacity of a coupe tank?
