Apologies if this has been posted before but well worth a read-

OS Giken TC24-B1Z

Video

This video of it running is the older version. The new one makes even more power now-

Absolutely no one designs engines with that beauty anymore :(

Whats the black coating on the cams? its seems this low friction ceramic coating from my pots is heading into the engine internals??

Miss you too Mik you moron....

Yeah possibly Teflon D? Not sure. It's all the go to coat things now. These are the pistons out of my Skyline (Teflon skirts and ceramic crowns)-

Supposedly Teflon reduces wear and friction and the ceramic reduces hotspots, damage from pinging/detonation and just looks plain awesome! Seems a shame to hide it inside the engine!

If you do a search on Youtube there is a series of six or seven Vids on the stripdown and rebuild of an Original one of these motors, well worth having a look at as rarely do you get to see how such an engine was designed and built.

Are they NA pistons? or you running higher comp with low boost???
They look amazing quality. Yeah its hard to tell even cams having
this full black anodised looking coating but someone cluey dude
on performance forums explained how its done and although designed
a while back this DLC or VDC - basically a black diamond coating
along with other similar processes make more hp by improving the
thermal efficiency by keeping surfaces cooler and very slippery.

just in case you guys didnt know Lampy who once owned my old vb10
before I bought it back from him has had built the closest thing
to an LZ engine, an L18 with KA24DE head which Les Collins built
and now making 282 hp ate @ 9000rpm.

heres another but 2.3L, 8hp more at lower rpm & 30lbs more torque

They're 9.5:1. I got them custom made (from CP in USA) to achieve those specs. I'll probably only run about 20 psi boost (more if it'll take it!). I'll see how it goes on 98 RON but the car will be running flex fuel (3 dimensional fuel/timing/ignition maps based on ethanol content) so it can run on E85. E85 should give it a lot better boost ceiling than the normal fuel. Chasing 450kw at the wheels on E85.

Les Collins makes an amazing engine! They look fantastic with the KA24 top end on them.
