So I just recently bought my first 1200 and thought I'd post up some pics and future plans for my little project.
![]() ![]() ![]() This is how I bought it, and as you can see it's relatively stock apart from ride height, wheels and some exhaust modifications. At the moment it's unregistered and I'm just trying to get it on the road so I can enjoy it, but I'd love to get it a tad lower on some better wheels with an A14/15. I'm a big fan of the JDM culture, but don't want to modify it too far from original with things like flares or anything that would stop me from one day going back to stock. Hopefully I can post some updates soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath!

Get some front coilovers and upgrade brakes and handling.
A12 with a cam and 32/36 webber will be fun. Electronic ignition wakes them up a bit too. Nice coupe.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy to finally get a 1200 coupe, been wanting one ever since I could drive!
Those all sound like good ideas unfamiliar, I have noticed the brakes are a bit quishy at the moment which is possibly just some air in the lines, but I've been looking in to a coil over set up for the front with some new brakes too. I just need to wait until I have the cash since I just spent it all (the wife is thrilled). I'm sure I still have a pair of Solexs from my old Stanza that I might look at whacking on in the future tooYes supafatto, this is the one that was on eBay about a month ago.

I don't mind those wheels, what are they?? I'd consider doing a larger strut upgrade altogether, the larger stub axle will allow for more bigger brake options.. If you're thinking about an engine swap, I'd consider diff options as well, the ute H165 axle is larger than the coupes h145 an can handle more torque. Let me know if you're after an a14...

It's sitting on some old ROH's right now, not exactly sure what they are other than they're 12x5 from what I can tell.
I was thinking of going with a 200b strut and whatever brakes I can still get a 13x7 wheel over. I've been studying all the wikis on brakes/struts but it's left me a little confused, although I can't say I'm all that well educated on most of this stuff anyway which might have something to do with it. The guy I bought it off assured me he swapped the diff to a h165 as the old h145 was a bit noisy but I'm not too sure how to check. I'd be keen on the a14, but I might let the wife cool off a bit first before I splash some more money around...

Well I've gathered so far that it would be best to go with a shortened 200b/Stanza strut to get the height I want, but I'm not sure what other pieces of the puzzle I need. Would it be best to go with a Datsport or Maddat kit if I haven't got anything yet, or should I start to track down the parts and get them modified myself?
In terms of brakes, what would I need if I was running a worked a14/a15 with a 200b strut, and what would still fit under a 13" wheel? Thanks for the help.

Twin spot sumitomo calipers are good with 200b rotors. Much better then stanza cslipers from my experience.
