Hi all! It's about time I started a thread on my ute to keep me motivated and to show you's what I've been doing. So I bought My first car a couple months ago which was a 1984 Datsun 1200 ute that I got for $1500 with extras (I'll post a picture of them later). So my plan is to attempt to get my P's by my birthday which is in june and to get my datto on the road.
So here's a list of what ( I think)or what I need to do to get it road worthy'd: rear brake cylinders new windshield rubbers new 1/4 window ventilators and latches reconnect the heater wipers don't work haha horn doesn't always work (bad earth?? I'm horrible with electronics) needs a new choke cable and probably a few other things that I can't think of Optional things would be stuff like surface rust in the tray and other little things here and there.

Looks pretty straight, good luck with the bits you have to do.
Pick up a Gregory's 1200 guide - it will help Give you a background on most small jobs http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... x.php?title=Repair_manual

thanks. The bloke who I bought it off of gave me a 120y manual and said the cars are basically the same. I assume he means the engines because the 120y has an a12 and so does mine but I'll definitely pick up a 1200 manual.

Thanks Supafatto! also another question do I need me heater to work for roadworthy? I've been thinking on getting it hooked up because the previous owner didn't have it connected. and I'm not too sure of the QLD rules regarding heaters for RWC's
