#1 Wanted: Alternator for 1200. LT135 FN Type
elemental_funk Posted on: 2014/3/24 7:30
Hi I am chasing an alternator, just like the one in the picture, LT135 FN. Or if it's easier I will buy the plastic piece with the bushes in it, my bushes are worn down to approx 10mm, and there are no lines as far as I can see for marking serviceable length?

If anyone has either let me know. Cheers

Buy the bushes from Nissan or auto part spares shops. BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1781648 $3 used by many Datsuns.

Sounds like they are still good

Left: worn down to the limit line (7 mm or less)
right: New

From that I can see mine are decent enough length. What else could cause a flashing alternator light? I broke down one night when using headlights/stereo etc

How did you break down?

Flashing light can be caused by blown diode or slipping fan belt.

Random electrical things kept dropping out, then it just started stalling. Then couldn't be jump started after a couple of goes.

I have since charged the battery and it starts fine again, on alternator the voltage is around 15.5 but is jumping around anywhere from 15 to 16. The alternator light is flashing still. alternator belt has around 10mm flex in middle.

This white block has a spring in it (which i'm guessing is a resistor) was hot and making noises coinciding with the flashing of the alternator light. But that could just be the random voltage
jumps that are going through it.

What is the diode and how do i check it?

The voltage regulator is bad.

Replace the regulator.
