transmission problems

my 4 speed wont go into 1st and reverse,
but will easily go into gear when off 1st gear is blocked off totally and if i try to go into reverse it grinds im worried the syncros are busted is it cheap for recondition? any ideas need the help at the moment

Sounds to me as though your pressure plate is giving up. Inspect that and your clutch disk and chances are that'll be where the issue is.

Another thing that can cause is a clutch cable that needs adjustment. Check it. See Clutch Cable
