A15 gearbox swaps. ?

Hi
I have a 1200 ute 89 with a15 and a 5sp box in it the syncrods are cruching in 2nd 3rd an I'm weighting up getting the box reco or swapping with another box that will fit in with minimal modification ? Can anyone give me some advise please ...

There is no 5 speed gearbox that will swap right in, but there are plenty of options.
Look in the Tech wiki, some people use the Celica 5 speed box.

With the celica conversion do you have to massage the trans tunnel to get it to fit ?

Easier to put an A15 5-speed in, especially since you've already got one
Any 5-speed from 1979-1982 Datsun B310 Sunny will replace what you have. Its also worth replacing the synchros. If you have dogleg shift 5-speed, synchros from a 4-speed fit.

Probably best to do what DD said rather than stuffing around with the Celica box. It requires a bit of work. Where as since you already have a 5speed fitted it shouldn't be a problem fitting an exact replacement
