Hi guys
I have given up on 5 speed box. But I was wondering if any one had extended the ratio of the 4th gear in a 56A box effectively making the 4th an overdrive. Is the possible. and has anyone done this? Thanks my friends....

If your talking about a 56A 4sp box then unfortunately 4th gear is simply the input shaft locked to the output shaft for a direct drive arrangement. Even though the lay shaft will still spin it however doesn't drive the output shaft when in 4th.

Did you find a check sleeve for your 5-speed?

If your talking about a 4sp box
* Dan Hall made 5-speeds out of a Datsun 4-speed. See Dan Hall 5-speed * This has been done with other direct 4-speed boxes. See Changing/custom early gears for a better gearbox Aichi Machine did it with the 56A by casting a bigger rear case, modifying the main shaft and cluster shaft to accept another gear on the end.
