also how close can the turbo sit to the carb and does it matter if the turbo is the same hight or a bit higher than the carb. or would i be better off puting the carb as asuck through in front of the turbo. thanks all info appreciatted....... im new at this if youu dont ask you dont get help! thanks moridat

Suck through is far easier and and takes less time to put together.
Boxed gives you more options including with more hp

What size is best depends on your goals. Do you want max HP for drag racing? Or a streetable car with a flexible engine that pulls from 2000 rpm?

Hi I'd say a T25 or T28. Both have t2 flange which are common turbos. I'm guessing an a/r of about .48 or .64 on the turbine. Any bigger would be laggy. Blow through and suck through have their pros and cons. Suck through is generally easier to set up and tune, but cannot be intercooled and the turbo needs to be carbon sealed. With positioning it don't think it really matters as long as the turbo gets oil and it can return back to the sump. General rule is keep inlet cool and exhaust hot, so if you can fit that into the build it should not be an issue.

thanks for that it gives me alot of food for thought i had been thinking t3 only because i had a manifold and it was t3 so i thought that was the type i needed it pays to ask questions.. in terms of overall dimensions are t25 t28 smaller in size than t3 im thinking of room so the fitment area is not overcrowded..thanks

A turbo with a t3 flange would generally be more suited for a larger engine like 2 to 3 litres. I have seen a t3 sized turbo on an A12 but not sure how it went. A t25 is smaller than a T28 and t3 are bigger again. There are other options like TD04 turbos off Subaru wrx which are small and would work well on an A series.
