So qualifying for the Indy 500 is going on right now and during the broadcast they mentioned Will Power first raced a 1200. I shared this with my son as he is of the attitude that real race cars are single seaters, given the Kart and the Formula 500 are the only things he's competed in it's not a surprising but nevertheless it is still fun to harass him. Anyway I thought it an interesting enough bit of trivia to post.

you and your son might like this article on some club racers that went on to race as the last privateers on Oz's biggest race Bathurst etc. They used a budget of 2500aud back then, no testing or tuning and beat some big guns but had heaps of passion.
