problem with my studs aswell
Devon

Hey guys,
got a new problem just took the wheels off my ute and the previous owner has stripped the thread on almost every stud!! i took the wheels off to seee if some 16" OZ racing wheels i have will fit, they do but the offset is all wrong (i really want these wheel to fit as im going for the "white on white colour scheme) So seeing as i need to sort out the studs and im planing a convesion is there anything i can do (changing front and back brakes/axles or whatever) to get a good brake upgrade (pref disc) and sort out my offset problem, a big diff would be nice 2. A list of cars with compatable parts so i can check out the wreckers would be awesome cheers

Hi Devon,
The studs are not difficult to replace. They just pop out with a hammer, then you put new ones in, doesn't take any special tools. I'm not sure about the front disc studs. To change the rear diff, there is no "compatible" model with a different offset. For a discussion of changing diffs, see the What diff? article in the Tech Section.

unless youve got big engine conversion the ute diff should be good enough, as long as you have 14" wheels or larger you can get the disc over drum setup out of the rear of a series two or three bluebird, or any trx and this will slide straight on your axles (with a 4 tonne press) though you will have to buy new wheel bearings ($75-100) to do this. once on slide axles back on diff hook handbrake up to drum and brake fluid line upto disc caliper, the backing plate off the bluebird will go on aswell which the caliper mounts to. simple, even though my explanation wasnt. and you have 4 wheel discs
for the front easiest upgrade would be stanza struts i was going to put a link but the other page is taking too long, ill put that in later

The disc brake upgrade sounds promising. Does this affect the track, so that different offset wheels would fit better?

no change to track or anything like that
one thing though, this only works for utes or others with h165 diffs!
