Bonnet won't open

Hi all. My bonnet wont open. I'm guessing the release cable has slipped. Anyone know any tricks to popping it open?
A comedy of errors really as I'm parked in a busy street and the battery has just gone flat. :^/ Just started raining too haha. Can I put jumper leads straight onto the starter and the chassis?

Tested out the battery pack directly on the starter of another car at home and that seems to work. Hopefully can get it home. Roll start might be easier but the road is flat and fairly busy.

Remove the grill to access the hood release from underneath. Feel around for the broke or slipped cable and pull it manually by hand near the latch

Manged to get it home and opened the bonnet with a mate wiggling the bonnet while I pulled on the release. Probably just need to readjust the cable now :D

Glad to hear that you got it open
yes adjusting the cable may help in general lubrication is what is needed latch receiver needs some grease ![]() make sure the small screw is tight as it fasten the cable holder underneath ![]() moving parts of the latch also needs some grease including plunger rod ![]() Then of course the handle pivots use a little oil * If the cable is rusty that's a big problem, try soaking it in automatic transmission fluid * If the cable clamp is loose that's another big problem ![]() You can view topic.
