So for an A12 engine in USA that means only the Datsun 1200 and the 1979-1982 Datsun 210

Prices varies up to $350. If you can find one locally they can often be had for $50 including LQK, pickapart, and pullapart yards. Few want them instead the 5-speed goes for $500 to $1000 used

The heavy-duty 4-speed fits (from A14/1400 and A14/1500 cars) but requires a modification to the gearbox crossmember, and the reverse lights don't work. These gearboxes are more common and less expensive

A 5-speed from a Datsun 210 (B310) can be made to fit and will up the fuel economy from 38mpg to 45mpg. It needs custom crossmember and the reverse light switch modified, or just run w/o working reverse lights
