tacho wiring

just bought a tacho to put in my ute and wanted to confirm wiring.
yellow/red=power black=earth black/white(2 off these)=to negative side of coil. Can some one please confirm this because i dont want to blow the tacho up.... Thanks Jason

Hi n_dorphin, this was discussed recently. Using the search box I found Tacho Connections, which should answer your questions. Or maybe just confuse

Mate, it's easy. If you know which one goes to 12v, one to earth and the other to the negative side of the coil..then it's easy as...
You can't really blow anything up. Keep away from the high tension lead, if you are wiring up while the engine is running. Chris.

ok tried all the ideas, One made wires smoke (+ coil and ign) and the other (using the neg of coil and dizzy) wouldnt start.
Help please

n_dorphin, it makes a huge difference ... is yours a factory 1200 tacho, or is it an aftermarket unit?
