Would you all, please, just go buy another ride and stop talking about butchering a classic. I've been looking to buy another 1200 sedan for years now. Hearing you all talk of transplants/AWD/etc makes me sick.

I agree, and if I ever buy a pristine original I promise not to chop it.
Until then I am going to continue my quest to build a light, fast, 1200 that puts more modern cars to shame whilst not detracting from the classic beauty of the original. One more modified 1200 on the road, is still one more 1200 on the road.

I agree with you Matt. Any fate is better than the wreckers. I cry a little, even when I see a good paint, rust free 120y, with only a dented door at the wreckers...It's bloody terrible. Kids today...
My fast project 1200 was a rolling shell. It was destined to be a FJ20DET 1200, but the guy ran out of money. It's now getting a CA, and it'll be fast as. I also have a 99% original 1200 Sedan, which needs some bad 70s panelbeater repair work redone. It looks ok to the untrained eye..buy I want it 100% factory perfect. To those that have seen my white 1200..they know what I'm talking about. I'll get to that after I finish my project 1200. Chris

Butcher smutcher! A stock 1200 is slow and boring. It was an ECONOMY CAR!!!!!!!
The fun of owning one (or more, as the case may be) is modifying them so they are fast and interesting. The only modification I would come close to calling "butchering" is another damn rotary. Again, I have nothing against rotaries, but the rotary 1200 has been done to death.

the main reason we modifiy 1200's is to give modern cars a fright and show what an old car can do
oh and it's cheapish
