#1 pod style filters

What do you guys think of the Ram Flo, K & N, Unifilter etc style pod filters? Do you use them? Are they only good for sucking hot air or are they worthwhile when used with some cold air ducting?

I have just bought a 1200 ute and would like to fit one to the standard carbie with the view to also putting it on a Weber when funds permit. Am I able to use the same one or will I need to purchase a bigger one for the Weber?

For the people who have used these style of filters did you use a small filter for the rocker cover breather pipe?

Thanks and sorry for so many questions.

I reckon your best bet is to use a high-flow replacement for the standard filter (like a foam or K&N element) and make up cold air ducting from the front of the car.

Like you said, if you just stick a pod on top of the carby, your just gonna be sucking hot air from the engine, and you may even lose power

i made up a cold air feed from a c20 van bonnet and tubing with a ram flo filter on the front. I find it good. search for the pics on the site. or i can post them again.
Just have to make up a shiled to stop hot air getting in. Cost effective for what it does.
Good when going down the free way, ive noticed beeter fuel consumption too.
