i have bought a sr20det afew years back in sydney and done a full rebuilt to it it would be VEry nice 2 c it it my ute !!!!!
i wana no if it is Legal first??

Hi DVLDAT, I had the same plan for one of my 1200 coupes but I spoke to a few engineers and the Qld. transport department and they all said NO!
U can only put an aspirated SR20 in a 1200, which is still a very nice motor! Now I'm just going for a worked CA18DET. Pitty about the extra kg's but what can u do.

In reference to the SR20DET being legal in QLD it is not because of the weight. This is why my Sunny just scrapes in with 2.1 Litre Turbo maximum capacity. So I have an SR20DET and its leagal but need to be finished for the Blue Plate. CA18DET is Legal just Sell the SR for what its worth and buy a CA18DET they are cheap and I think are really good with power and they REV far better than the SR, I still wonder If I shoud've gone with the CA they really are good motors. And are smaller than the SR so handling wise its a better setup and easier to work with too.

hay its true and glad i got a ca18det now i picked up a bargin! i got motor standard ecu and box for $1250 my budget was 2500 so now i can rebuild tha motor and maybe a set of forged pistens! ive got a gt28 sitting in my room of my mate reall chaep $500 so ive been really luky and happy and its possible for ne one 2 do u just gotta look around 4 bargins!
