should I be getting worried...

The QLD Hillclimb Championship is on Saturday and still haven't fired the car up after refitting the engine and 'new' box. Plus I still have some paint work to do to the rear quarters after fitting the flares. Or more to the point, after welding up the rear wheelarches. Then I want to change the cam timing back to where I normally run it, and the car could really use a polish so the paint on the car is as bright and shiny as the freshly painted flares.
Oh well, guess its another couple of late nights, and looks like I'll be having a sickie tomorrow...(hope the boss doesn't read this!). But it looks fat with the flares all round definitely worth the effort. should have some pics on Monday. And hopefully this rain will clear like they say it should, so I can have a crack at breaking my PB. I can't wait - especially after seeing those Sandown and Calder pics on here. Now it's my turn!

well I did get it finished - just. The paintwork was the time consuming part, but that was never going to stop me from racing - just a matter of wether there was some patches still in primer or not. But I did manage to get it painted so it looked good for the pics. I don't have them yet, but they're coming.
Saturday's practice was wet, but it cleared up for Sunday, just leaving a couple of wet patches on the corners where water was seeping out of the bush keeping sections of the corners wet all day. Car ran well and felt alot better with the wider track and new gears, but I wasn't real happy with my driving on the day and only got 1 half decent run on the board with a best time of 50.1, a few hundreths away from my best time, and only good enough for another 2nd place, about 2 tenths behind the winner in a Datsun 1600. All my other runs were 1.5 to 2 seconds slower for various reasons. oh well, there's always next time... A friend of mine rolled his Civic (that makes 4 rollovers at MtCotton this year!!!) on the first run on Sunday after loosing it on one of the wet patches just before what they call lover's leap, which is where the road drops away from underneath you as you are exiting the first loop and starting the first run downhill. It's his road car and did not have a cage. He was OK - cleared of a suspected broken arm which was sort of flailing about out through the window when it rolled, but the car is a write off.

yeah it was fun. The damp conditions always get the adrenaline going! Would have been more fun to finally break into the 49's but.
the 1600 has an L20. Don't really know too much about the car, but it he has only just got it back together after a few years, and is getting quicker every time he comes out. Peter Gumley took outright honours (of course!) Dave's Civic that rolled was the model before the current ugly shape. VTEC engine, good suspension and tyres and normally runs around high 50's.

ooops. Alan McConnell actually won outright!
'bout time someone beat Gumley! and isn't always good to see a Queenslander get up over the roaches? You can view topic.
