Yes it is, those total production was only 94pcs 30 years ago, they are rarer than hen's teeth. Actually it's still quite cheap, even that S20 engine alone might be worth of $50k if reasonable condition, they were hand made race engines not normal production engines and there's also some R380, C10 GT-R ja Z432 users which also would like to have original S20 engine underhood.

It is worth what some Japanese collector is willing to pay, or would have paid before the recession. Just don't forget how much JDM vintage car prices have sagged because of the economy. It may be awhile, if ever, that this model again fetches what it would have at peak market (5 years ago?).

I think the models sitting on the shelf, is as close as I'll ever come to owning one. Too bad, it really is the only car I want dearly. Dream on.

The GTX has a similar look. Hopefully NOT the similar price.

Why waste your time and money on the s2000 engined one when Ive seen many a stroker 3.1 L28 240k coupes and four doors eat them alive in club racing in Shizuoka.
The four door versions usually killed the coupes to my shock horror but in factory trim these babies with an L20 6 weighed only 980Kgs!!!! So you can only imagine race ones... What bugged me too was that the L28 is apparantely a tad heavier than the hemi six!! So how do these heavy over engineered bottom ends still allow the car to be so light??? (oh thats right they are made like a sheet of kleenex)
Also dont forget that rb engined ones give even more frills on a budget. Or to be daring with that kleenex reinforcement you could try the alloy v8 found on the Japan only sold CIMA.

I'm slowly building a replica at the moment with the intention of entering a Targa rally. It currently has a 4.4l alloy V8, but that will go to make way for an L28 etc etc. I've sourced some GTR flares in Aus to replace the ####ty ones that are currently on it, and I've borrowed some Japanese 'Nostalgic Hero' magazines with some articles on them and ads for repo parts, but I can't read Japanese - thankfully they use the same character set for numbering so I can get some details.

D, can you translate Japanese? Or anyone here for that matter?

To be allowed to use the flares on my C110 in Targa, I need to be able to supply 'proof' of their specifications. The other bit of info that is proving difficult to find is the standard wheel size 14 * ?? - all these Nostalgic Hero mags only seem to quote the tyre size of the standard car. Anyone know? You are allowed to fit wheels 2" larger diametre and width then standard and I'm hoping I'll be able to fit 15*8" wheels

If only I could find the 240k used in the winning fuji nationals back in the early 70s you should see the size of these flares and I think that you could run 15s as they had 14s or 15s from factory (not sure Ill find out)
As for Jap yes i can get my girl to translate she hates it but I got my ways... otherwise maybe Okinawamericano can do it.
COuld you show us some pics of this replica?
is it a 2 door or 4?
Can you use the Sd22 crank and L24 rods and custom slugs to take it to the L31 specs or is it not allowed for Targa Tas.
I heard Targa Tas has A-holes galore when it comes to scruteniering.
Still makes me wonder how a four door gemini with a turbo 2.6ltr 4 was allowed to compete a couple of yeats ago???? when they are so anal.???

what's Okinawamericano?

internal engine mods are free So you can do whatever the budget allows. You can't turbo or fuel inject a car unless it came that way from the factory, so it is strange about the Gemini

You are allowed to use flares from a 'recognised production model' so it's only the factory flares for my car, but I have seen pics of some of those massive flares you're talking about in these Nostalgic Hero mags.

The GTR's standard wheels are 14", it's the width I can't find anywhere. 175HR14 was the standard tyre. They came with steelies as most of the GTR's ended up on the track. The Aus 240K had a 5.5" wheel, but I'm hoping the GTR had a 6" wheel so I can use 8" width. I've measured up the wheels I want, and they will fit under the GTR flares - In Japan it's not unusual to see 9.5" or bigger on the rear of these things!

Not much to see with my car just yet, I'm just gathering info and parts at the moment, and I want to get some repo GTR parts like grill and some badges from Japan. but
here's a pic of it when I first picked it up with the dodgy flares and V8 complete with bonnet scoop I'm having a few weeks off in August to strip and paint it, so I'll get some more pics after that.

Targa rules can be pretty complicated in some areas and being an international event I guess the scrutineers have to check eligibility quite strictly, so it's not really surprising they've gained that kind of reputation. Targa NZ have much more open rules though, and we're thinking about doing that one next year in the 1200.
