Tailshaft

I have a MR30 skyline box behind my CA18 and also a standard 1600 tailshaft. My question is when I get the tailshaft shortened do I need to get upgraded uni-joints or will the standard ones hold up. Or is there possibly a stronger L-series tailshaft I could have?

Dunno if the tailshaft will fit the output from the gear box. IF it does then you are laughing, but i know a stanza taily will fit, just needs to be shortened.

Yes, the 1600 joints are the same ones used in the early Z's (L24/L28). Should handle the torque just fine. FWIW, the weak link on a 1600 seems to be the joints in the drive axles. Don't know why they fail first, as they are the same joint used in the tailshaft.

Its the large changes in drive angle that make them fail.
