#1 This 1200 has run 8.20's in the 1/4 mile

thought you guys might get a kick out of these video clips:

http://www.sportcompactdragracing.com/IDRC%20Longhorn%20Nationals.htm

that's the pepe loco 1200, running a rotary engine of course... it leaves really hard and goes straight, with the front end well off of the ground on nearly every launch.

after shooting that car for the last couple of years, i now want a 1200 instead, i have to settle for shooting the car and putting the footage on the web

but being a vw guy, i'd love to stick a flat four motor in front, because that's all i know how to build up... but i don't think the engine compartment is wide enuf.

Yeah, I haven't watched the clip yet..I refuse to install realplayer...It causes almost all PCs to slow down, because it spends it's time scanning your harddisk for information..There's a reason that it's free....

Chris

ps. Not to mention the "Targeted Web Advertising" that comes with it. Yeah, plenty of software started out free to get market share, then they start putting crap like advertising through it to pay for it, without improving the product anymore. They say "Download the new version now, lots of new features". This just means more bugs, more spyware, and more bloated crappy software. I'd rather pay for a product that works, than have some company sell off my identity to a million companies for 0.10c. That's an easy way to make money..

pps.

Thanks for posting the clips. I'll look at them on a PC at work. I do appreciate your posting them. I just don't like RealPlayer.

Pretty fast, pretty neat, but it's still a Mazda with 1200 sheetmetal.

Hey Chris, does the same go for MediaPlayer and QuickTime?

sorry 'bout that realplayer... i used to encode web video for a living, and the reason i'm using it is because it has the best picture quality of 'em all.

real jukebox is what causes most of the problems, so you may have to do a complete uninstall, then just install the bare bones version of real player... next go into the real player preferences and turn off all automatic updates and such.

it's a hassle, but if you've never seen this car run before, it's probably worth it.

I wish more people would put videos of their Datsun 1200's racing/showing off/burning out....it's just too awesome!

I've never seen a realplayer vid with good picture quality...
