Hi Thomas, we are lucky in Oz as we got the ute's from the early 70's right thru to 85 so they can be picked pretty cheap.
You guy's in the states are lucky (you may not think so) as you got the two door sedans and they as rare as chicken lips over hear anyway welcome to the club.
cheers Ade

Your kidding me,right? these cars come in 4-door versions? That would be WAY too cool,as I have 5 kids to ride around with(well, 4- My oldest one is 16,can drive himself!! The only ones I have seen(5 today,) are of the 2 door variety. To the best of my knowledge-to whom I have spoken with,NO 4-doors---NO pickups(utes) were EVER imported to the USA. That sucks!!! Hi Tom, The reason I think that we got most of the models down under is that they were built in Oz, from what my Dad has told me is the coupe was fully imported from Japan and could be ordered with a factory five speed, the only ones we did not get was the 2 door wagon and sedan.
I did manage to pick up a 2 door sedan and most people don't believe me over here. My daily driver is an original 4 door sedan.
cheers Ade

Couldn"t tell ya. South central(Compton) is about 600 miles from here, besides, havent you heard? California stops at Sacramento-- we gave everything south of there back to MEXICO!! Just kidding,SO-CAL!! Actually, yeh, that rig WOULD be a looker over here --especially with the right-hand steering! you"d have a helluva time staying in the right-hand lane, huh?

Oh really?

Is that why we get the Civic Si (160hp/5-speed/non-LSD) and the rest of the modern world gets the Civic Type-R (200hp/6-speed/LSD)?

We didn't get the Skyline, we didn't get the Silvia, we didn't get ****. Why do you think all the kids over here pay so much for JDM swaps?

America might set the trend for "basic" models, but when it comes to the tuned performance market we get squat.

I think it might be partly an attempt to keep the USA local "V8" truck/road-boat manufacturers in business. California has blamed emissions for the past 10 years, as an excuse not to import the GTR. I never understood how a turbo car which is infinitely more effecient than a V8 was never allowed in a country that relies so heavily on petrol imports. The GTR and it's turbos might not pass emmisions at wide open throttle, but most of these V8s wouldn't pass emissions from the engine bay at off idle.

I've always been annoyed at Nissan Australia's lack of support for the more interesting Nissan Japan models. I understand that the compliance costs can get expensive, but Nissan Australia seem happy in being a "middle of the road" (on a sunday) kind of company. This annoys me less than Mitsubishi, who goes on about the "bottom of the line" Lancer being "race-bred" while importing only a handful of it's EVO brothers, yet their adverts try and get you excited about an anaemic FWD piece of crap! Sorry this doesn'twork on me. A set of mag wheels doesn't turn a donkey into a race car.

My 10 cents worth.
Chris
