I knew that they made A14GX's, but i thought that they were used in the B310's. I had always believed that the only 1400cc motors that were used in the B210 body were the "L" series engines in the Excelent's

Funny this should come up- I just got off of nwde, and was told I did not buy a 79 B210 gx,because it never existed. HHMMM The calif. title says model:year;1979. can someone clear this up for me? It"s a GX hatchback, lime metallic green with white/gold stripes on each side, and tan interior.the eng./trans. is the A-14(single carb.-calif.emmissions banned the twin carbs.)5 speed with what appears to be a rally dash-tach-full instramentation- and the build-date was feb.1978. No matter,I bought it for the eng.-trans. that I put into my 1200 coupe yesterday.just wondering Tom S.

With a Feb '78 build date, it would seem to be a '78 model. The chances of it remaining unsold untill '79 would seem slim, but i guess it's possible. If that is indeed what happened, i would speculate that the year of sale was put down as the year model. Well,...it could'a happened that way. Where is first & reverse on your gearbox? If first is to the left & back, with reverse straight ahead of it, then it is likely to be a 1 to 1 in top box. These are a lot of fun with a lowish first, then four closely spaced ratios.

If first is to the left & foward, with reverse to the right & back, it would be the overdrive box & these are better suited to cruising, but both are good.
Check the tech. article on gearboxes on this site for details.

Different countries have different options.

Every B210 sold in the US was A14-powered (except 1974 models got the A13 engine).

In Japan, the B210GX got an A14GX engine if I'm not mistaken.

1979 models were B310s, not B210s. In the US, these were called "210" (notice it is not B-210 as the 74-78s were called).

driftindatsun, the title was issued by California, not Nissan, so the year could be wrong; I've seen that happen before. Check the chassis plate under the hood. It should show either body code B210 (1978 model year) or B310 (1979 model year).

Or just look at the trim badges. "B-210" is a B210, but "210" is a B310. Oh, and in the US, GX models didn't come with dual-carb engines.

Yes, in Japan the B210 GX (or Sunny GX) had the A14 GX engine with twin SU carbs, we used to own one here back in 1983-85. My dad really liked that car, and us kids did too, but we liked our 1970 Roadster 1600 better. The B210 GX we had went pretty decent. My dad said he took it up to about 125 mph, and I remember doing it too even though I was only about 5 years old. At the time I didn't realize what it was, we all just loved the "Red Roadster" the most. Wish we still had that B210 though....and the Roadster.
