Why don't you get your carby rebuilt by a specialist, I had my std 1200 carby done now starts first pop and idles like a dream and also no choke at all.
I have a carby and will gladly swap it for your webber..cheers Ade

yeah its down draught 32/36, its way over kill for an a12 so im throwing on a a12 just to have better fuel economy and better response etc till i get a good performance engine.

i always say to get a mechanic to setup the carby for that reason, so many people think theres a prob with the carby and wheter it suits the motor

when it does suit the motor, is an awesome upgrade and will make your car heaps quicker if u just fork out the dosh to get it setup properly by a pro

i never play with the carbs cause i know it is a place that you can really screw up your car if it isnt done right

anyway, thats just my opion, your crazy to take it off its a great upgrade if you can afford to get the carb setup right which may require a rebuild but shouldnt cost more than $220 including that and jetting

i hear a common prob with em is actually the base plate of the carb warping and allowing leaks between it and the manifold

32/36 weber is not "way overkill" for a 1200. My totally stock engine (except for 1.75 inch exhaust) ran very well with a 32/36. The only problem I had was a small flat spot just off-idle. But it was very driveable. My fuel economy probably did drop about 25% percent -- but mostly because I drove the engine much harder!

- Advantage: more power, engine revved 1000 rpm higher with usable power

- Disadavantage: flat spot off-idle. Using the stock Nissan throttle-bore-extender tube in the manifold helped, as did proper jetting.

That being said, in the end I did go back to the Hitachi ... which is a good carb in its own right (perfect fuel economy, excellent throttle response).
