2) the accelerator cable is to short and repco dont have anything to suit the a14gx with twin su carbies. please help me

Disabling the reverse light function in a registered car is a defectable item, & i didn't have any problems with the reverse light switch in my 1000 with 5 speed. These have a small tunnel, but i also have the small trans, so this might be the diference.

If this is a road car, then surely there must be a way to keep it. If it's a racer, use a cut down big bolt.

Hey Dodgeman...even if it is a racer, CAMS still require all lights to be working as intended in most racing categories.

Just goes to show ya, i'm strictly street.
The only racing i did was at Westmead speedway in the 60's [it's now Westmead hospital] & a few runs down Castlereagh dragway in the early 70's [it's now a housing or industrial development i believe] Neither of these required lights.

Westmead speedway! I've lived in Sydney all of my life and never even heard of that!! Thanks for the history! I remember Liverpool Speedway.. The night smell of nitrobenzine certainly turned me into a petrol head.

I don't remember much before 1978....

Just means that you were in your prime through the 60s and 70s..that makes me envious.

Cheers,
Chris

Westmead teaching hospital was built on the site of the former Parramatta Showgriund. The Speedway was located within the showgrounds & the last season was in 1967. It was a banner year.
We raced a 1934 Dodge, Model KCD sedan & did OK with one feature race win to out credit. I still have my 1967 Club member keyring with it's enamel membership tag.
It was fun.

The switch body can be shortened, find an understanding fitter and turner. From memory you can remove 10mm, and lightly dress the tunnel where the switch is. (That means hit it with a hammer) As for the throttle cable go to a motorcycle repair shop and have them make you a cable they are not expensive.
