slow throttle response (a12)

the stock standard a12 sitting in my '74 120y is a bit slow in getting the revs up, even if i floor it, it takes a few (3-5_ seconds for the throttle to actually kick in.
anyone know what the problem might be??

i thought all a12's were like that
well check usual .. leads, plugs, oil, clean your carby, and if doesnt help rip out the old a12 and put a L20b in it,
