hey guys,

i checked my compession over the week end and 2-4 are between 160-170psi but number 1 is 0psi!!!
i have just rebuilt the whole engine and that creeps up on me could i have broken rings? on my ported head i had 90psi but on a stanard A-14 head it shows nothing.

when i put my hand over the ports it does not even suck.

WHAT CAN BE THE PROBLEM NOW?????
I AM READY TO BURN THAT ENGINE VERY SOON

Cheers guys
nicholas

Could be valves, or could be piston/rings.

A vacuum test can determine it (instructions come with the vacuum gauge).

You can also put it on TDC for #1, then check if the valves have the correct clearance. If it doesn't that's your problem.

To tell about piston or rings, while (if) engine is running, is it blowing excessive vapor out the breather hose?

squirt some oil into the cylinders and recheck
if compression increases likely ring problem I have seen some engine rebuilt by others with not enough lube on rings and no compression untill adding oil to cylinders with a broken ring you should still have some compession make sure your valve clearance correct

remove the intake manifold and have a peak doen the intake of one.
Does the intake valve open when u hand crank the engine?? If it doesn't, take of the rocker cover and check the rocker arm to valve stem clearance.
If that is within specs, check that the push rod ??? is in one piece and has been installed correctly. its possibly to get these stuk when installing the head.
