Hi all.

I need to replace the switch that opens and closes the radiator waterflow to the heater core under the dash.
Is there anyone that can give me hints or tips to do this procedure?
Mine is stuck in the close position.I think it is due to age and winter is around the corner for us here in South Africa.

Thanks

First try and service the valve, if it's leaking, then replace it, otherwise pull it apart and clean it. They can get clogged up with rubbish over time. Try and grease it up so it's working freely before you re-install it.

If it's stuffed, replace it:
- get a stumpy small phillips head screwdriver, and another screwdriver for the hoseclamps.
- drain the water out of the radiator with heater setting to hot (if possible)
- protect carpet with plastic, or remove carpets from front.
- remove and replace the heater valve.

Get the valve from Nissan, don't waste your time with second hand stuff. You live in ZA, Nissan ZA are great for parts.

Dattodude

Thanks for the info.
When I wrote this thread I thought of maybe removing it and cleaning it to see if it is still usable.I will see what I get when I remove it.
But my best bet is maybe to replace it with a new one. Just to be save.
