Hi guys, anyone know how many of these were imported into Australia?
Sorry for the trivial pursuit style question... but very interested in the answer.
Cheers Ivan

I've owned 3. One I sold to someone here in Adelaide and haven't seen it since, another was bought for parts for the first one and ended up going to the scrap yard (believe me, it wasn't worth restoring) and the third I've still got now and it came from Melbourne...

Nah, it was in grey primer with SAAS race seats in it...
EDIT: I know of at least 3 other coupes here in Adelaide (not including 1000coupe's white coupe mentioned above):
An aqua couloured one, an original red coupe, driven by a middle-aged lady which is VERY neat, and a metallic blue coupe sitting in a shed belonging to my neighbour 2 doors down which he won't sell (damn you Scott :))
That's about all I've seen in Adelaide.

I had 7 at one time once I now have only 2 Always looking for more though
They were I believe only made in 1969 and a few in 1970 so there won't be too many around (not many left worth having anyway)
I've seen a couple of others here in Perth but they are thin on the ground here too.

Datsun 1000 coupes were surprisingly popular in Australia & sold reasonably well, yet they are actually quite rare,.. globaly. They were made for only about 18 months, from sometime after October '68 untill June '69 for the 1969 model & from July '69 untill about December '69 for the 1970 model.
They were made in right drive only, & not all the right drive markets got them. In fact, i know only that they were sold in Australia & Japan, so if any other countries got them, i would love to know of it.
My book does not quote a start month for '69 production, nor does it quote a serial number range, but anything numbered below KB10-080001 is a '69 model, & anything above it is a '70 model.

I'll have to check my chassis #'s Mine are both rego'd as '69's. I have an orange covered parts book on the 1000 and it lists the coupe as LHD for US market........inc differnt part #'d items for their market specifically. But never heard of any going there.........maybe they thought about it but it didn't happen.
Sedan parts aren't much good to me unfortunatly.

I bought my small Datsun 1000 parts book in the early 80's & i was / am of the belief that it is the last version of it. Publication nomber C-053E refers [front cover]
It makes no reference to left drive coupes, or to a [L]KB10 car, just KB10's. Sedals & utes came in left drive, but not vans or coupes, according to my book.
Are you able to scan the relevant page showing the [L]KB10 as this is a new one on me. Thanks for the info.
If you check the model ID in the front of your book, it should show that '70 models seem to have all been made in '69, as 1200 models appear to have been made from January 1970. This may be why yours were registered as '69's. Then again, they might actually be '69 models. Check your numbers & let us know what you discover. Chris
