My 1000 needs new hubs (or at least 1) and I'd like a few ideas... The hubs from my 1984 1200 drum brake struts have larger inside diameters on the bearing races. The 1974 120Y disk brake hubs have the same bearings and fit, but are disk brakes.

Will it be easier to convert my 1000 to disks (using the hubs, master cylinder, some of the lines and calipers from the 1974 120Y) or find a 1000 drum brake hub somewhere?

HELP.

PS. My wrist is working again so i am back in action. [edit] See here

I am fairly sure that you would have to use the 120Y strut so you have somewhere to bolt the caliper to (either that or make a bracket) use the search
(look <--------------- )for the change and see where it takes you

Yeah checked out the "1000 Disk Brake Conversion" stuff using the KE laser gear, etc and they usually use the original hubs... which i cannot do.
Datto7, the 1000 doesn't use "struts" like 1200s or 120y's either.

Making a bracket would be a hassle but maybe easier than searching for a 1000 at a wreckers, and seeing as i have these 120Y parts already... and they are so easy to come by locally.... might be time for disks???

Does anybody know or have some drum brake hubs from a 1200 or a 1000 that might fit???

give dattoman_1000 a pm. He has exactly what you are looking for...a 1000 brake upgrade kit...but has been improved; custom hubs etc. Hopefully going on my 1000 in the next few weeks.

I also have a stock 1000 hub off one of my spare cars I can send you if thats all you need.

Why do you need a hub by the way ?

I think that the front hubs from a 1200 [a real 1200, ie, 1970 - '73] are interchangeable
