i was wondering if anyone can shed some light on what sort of power would be made out of an a14 turbo. i am looking at using a starlet turbo and jetted carby. i dont no an aweful lot about how the carby turbo set ups work, my mate is going to give me a hand i just know there wont be fuel traveling through the turbo so i wont have to worry about carbon sealing. im lookg at running 10-12psi and im not sure what pumps i need and shold buy etc. i wanna do it cheapish and want it to just be a fun little car. also i have heard off some people that carby turbos are crap and throwing a turbo on an a14 will hardly increase power at all and are just trouble. on the other hand ive heard off other people that they go surprisingly hard and are heaps of fun etc. i was wondering if anyone could shed light on what sort of power it would make and how it would match up to say a standard 16valve sprinter. what would car should it stick even with roughly?

I am not trying to put you off the idea but plain and simply, unless you already have the parts needed or you can get them really cheap, there is no way the end cost is going to be cheap. ( All comes down to your idea of cheap too.)
If its for a road registered car you need an engineers report = $$ and also you will have to pay more money for your insurance too.
People say I dont care about that stuff, but think about it, if you have no money now, if you crash the car without an engineers report whether you are insured or not you will be without money for a long time once the insurance company is through with you.

Just something to think about.
( also if it was cheap, everyone would have done it)

yeah my mate works for an insurance company so he can get all the insurance done for less than the price any other person would be paying for a standard 1200. and my dad is good mates with an engineer so thats covered too. i have also have the turbo sitting here already. im not gonna touch the internals of the engine or something and can get all the piping done free, eg turbo manifold. all i would have to buy is the pumps i would need... if any.

lucky you then.

One question if you have all that covered, why are you only choosing to do this setup?
