I found a ute at last yesterday.
the trading post came out and i looked at one in penrith with ca18.... soooo much rust and rough as guts. (asking $6800).

I then looked at final stage's ute at merrylands and ended up buying that!!!
Bill and his brother have done an amazing job on it (and its FULLY engineered too).

It runs a ca18det with an auto from the same donor car, 5 link rear etc etc.
does anyone know of it???? i am stoked over it, and hope to just maintain it and keep it on the road.

i reckon i have saved ####loads of money buying this (touch wood).

i have taken some pics , just a matter of getting them on here...
specs as follows:
1990 180sx ca18det engine (stock)
auto gear box from same car (stock)
standard comp from same car
pod filter
big front mount
bov
3 inch mandral exhaust
comodore vented rotors front / solid rear
5.0 litre master brake cylinder / second brake booster mounted inside cabin
shortened comodore dif
shortened comodore tail shaft
5 link rear end / adjustable pan rod
chaser rims 4.5 x 15 / 6 x 15
mini tubs
series 6 rx7 seats
yellow paint

the thing is flawless (touch wood). it is great fun to drive, and while not the quickest ca18 it is FULLY engineered and will pass ANY inspection with ease.
Bill and his brother at Final Stage Enhancements (who were the previous owners) built it and did a first class job.

If anyone needs work on a ute give them a call they certainly know what they are on about.

It does sound like a very good deal.

If it's not blowing smoke, and it is all engineered, then it's a bargain!

It'd take another couple of thousand, and the thing would be a weapon. Good purchasing.

I don't know how they fitted the CA18DET's auto geabox in.. those things are bloody huge.

Cheers,
Chris.

it has a larger custom tunnel welded into it. this stops at the front of the seats to keep the cabin strength. there is no loss of leg room, + the auto not needing any gearshifts helps.
blows no smoke and actually runs quite well. i will post some pics here soon.
