I have a question about wiring up my 72 510 and I was wondering if any of you have used the universal painless wiring setup with 18 channels. It is not built especially for datsun's but I was just wondering if it is possible to use or will i have to start from scratch?? here is the link to it anything will be a ppreciated thnx

there is no reason why you cant use it. Its a universal loom so its not designed for a specific car.
Its basically the same as starting from scratch but in the case of an average bloke the painltess looms are a bit easier as they have the circuits already basically worked out and the correct size wire for each application.
You just have to run the wires and connect them to the correct component.
