What else can I try to start this car up.
Oh, When I've tried putting in petrol into the carb manually, she starts for a while then cuts off again.
One thing for sure, I dont think its a carb problem, neither the pump.
Any suggestion welcome
Let me see, if you pour a little fuel down the carb throat, it starts & runs for a few seconds [untill the fuel runs out], then stops.
At least, i have assumed that you are pouring a little fuel straight down the carb throat.
The fact that it starts at all tells us that it has spark & compression, &,... ummm,... it's the carb that feeds it fuel, but you say that you don't have a fuel delivery [carb] problem.
Beats me, but pump the throttle while looking down the throat of the carb [with choke open] to see if fuel is squirting from the accelerator pump nozzle. If nothing, remove the plugs, & the fuel line at the carb. Place a container at the end of the fuel line & get a mate to crank it for a couple of rotations only. If fuel comes out OK, then make absolutely sure that the filter is good. What the hell, fit a new one anyway, they only cost a few dollars.
Still no fuel at the end of the pipe? then disconect at the filter & blow [with your mouth] back into the tank [remove filler cap first] Everything OK? then remove the pump, strip & check it as per the manual.
If fuel does pump, then check the carb. Perhaps the needle & seat is blocked, check it. Make sure that the bottom of the bowl is not full of water. If it is, find out where it came from & remove both the water, & the cause.
