Crane have a kit to convert points to high energy ignition, check out Crane under --> Rocket Industriesand look at XR3000 points to electronic kits. I believe Martin Donnon used one on his 1200 ute "The Gimp" about 5yrs ago in a Hot4s mag.

Also here's the Crane link --> Crane Aust

Anyone have one?

Also if $365 sounnds a little steep,
Thundercords in Sydney have a Pertronix kit for $270 including GST.

is it actually high energy though or still 7v? I want more spark energy to suit the blower, the Crane one is full 12v setup, not just points removal.

The 'points eliminator' Pertronix system is often on eBay for about $75 US, shipping to AU would only be a few bucks.

Eliminating the points is 99% worthwhile. Unless you are running a turbo or supercharger, or super-high compression (12:1 or more?), would the high-energy really make that much difference?

Refer above where I said I was using a blower.

don't get me wrong, I'd use petronix if it's high energy cause it's cheaper, but if it's not for approx $100 more I'll get the high energy one thanks.

Back to my main point, is anyone here using one?

There is information on these conversion kits at www.warehouseautoparts.com
It says it delivers twice the voltage at the sparkplugs. Would this be a high energy system ?

pertronix
I don't think its a high output ignition. I don't know about the new ones, but the old ones could not drive a high energy coil or they would burn out. I use mine to trigger an MSD 6AL.
