Never driven an automatic 1200 before. Just curious about them . . .

Also want to know how much work it is to swap out the transmission & how much one would be worth once out of the car.

If the datto is stock, it'll be nice and S.L.O.W.

An automatic isn't worth much ... unless you happen to find a buyer who needs a replacement "right now". Unlikely. But then again a 4-speed isn't worth much either. On the other hand tthe 5-speeds have value.

The automatic 1200 drives nicely. It takes off well, but is a little slower at higher speeds.

There was a guy who went through the trouble to put a 4spd automatic in his 510, he used to run 510 Again, but everybody laughed at him for it, and he sold his club rights and his car too.

I think it is cool! A four-speed auto would bring it up to modern specification, ease of driving + (better) performance + economy.

How did he do it?

I've been looking for another coupe, and I think I've found it, but it's an automatic. Owner says the engine is running strong and he's acually just replaced the tranny.

I have my manual goods to swap out but wondering if it's worth the effort. It's the most decent replacement for my 1200 yet but I don't know if I want an automatic car.

Anyone out there interested in an automatic if I take it out of there?
