Hi all, now i know the sort of answers your all likely to give for this question, and i know you are right... BUT

I have a 2 door 120y sedan, and ive just retired it. However i wanna get it back on the road, as like a sunday driver... And for just goin cruisin, somethin a bit different to drive than my daily driver (EA Falcon)

Is it possible to spray the car using spray cans (all from the same batch to try to get the color the same the whole way)?

Im on VERY limited budget, and will do it all myself, as in the panelbeating, prep coats etc...

Just wondering if this has been done before and what the results were like. If anyone has photo's id greatly appreciate it.

even on the tightest of budgets, I would think a few litres of spraying enamel or even better acrylic would be just as cheap as enough aerosol cans to paint the whole car.

You can paint a whole car with cans but it will cost you more in the long run, unless you use cheap paint from supercheap (but I don't recommend this as the colour varies in different batches and it also turns chalky very quickly )If you use good quality ACRYLIC paint in cans you will get a much better result but for the price of 10 cans you can get 4 ltrs of acrylic and 8 ltrs thinners .You won't get the latest colours for that sort of price but have a look in supercheap they have few different premixed 4 ltr tins ready to go for about $80-$100 and 4 ltrs will cover a 120Y easily. If you search for MY SUNNY you will find a car I painted with cans years ago.
Hope this helps

thats autokrats car painted with spray cans. It is possible, and can look ok... [edit] he bet me to it...
You would be looking at around 15 to 20 spray cans (just a guess) at around $7.50 which would cost you about $130 to do a decent job. that is no primer, just the colour. If your not going for a red (or any other expensive colour) you should be able to spend about the same amount on paint to be applied with a proper spray gun.
You should be able to hire the gear for a weekend (apparently not all that much), if you can't borrow it, and with a bit of practice you can probably do a decent job, if you have that sort of skill. Its not that hard. get a nice matt sort of colour...don't go gloss...
my 20c anyway.

Just pop into a Supercheap store in Victoria and buy 40-50 cans of export spray pain for $2 each, and take back what you dont need. Or do like I did and buy and airless sprayer and 4 litres of acrylic and 4 litres of thinner about $170 all up

Buy 2L of cheap enamal, and borrow or rent a compressor and gun. The end result will be far superior, and last longer. Don't fool yourself, sray cans will work out dearer.
