Hello guys,

I don't know where else to ask this but i was wondering if you guys had any info about this engine. I am going to make a go-kart with it. I know nothing about the engine just that it came out of a 1966 Datsun. It came with a 3-Speed tranny now is that an auto or a stick? How are parts for these engine? Can i pick them up at pep-boys? I am mostly refuring to head gaskets... valve cover gaskets oil filters and so on. Also if anyone happens to know of where i could buy a driveshaft and rear-end for this engine that would be great. Any help greatly apreciated.

Thanks,
George

That's pretty old. It may have come from a pickup.
You should sell it on Ebay. I'm sure there are not many of these left. Anyone doing a restoration would probably crap their pants to find one this stock.
If you do keep it, a driveshaft and the rearend from another Datsun might work. You'll have to spend some time at the junkyard trying to find a yolk that fits.
What's the first letter and number in the first pic? is that an E1? very vintage.
It wouldn't hurt to try Pepboy's, you never know.
rockauto try this site for gaskets, etc.
Look up Nissan, 1965, 410

You want to put this engine into a GO-CART?
The engine & trans are longer than a regulation cart chassis. How you plan to drive the sprocket on the rear axle should be an interesting exercise.
There is only enough room behind the driver for the usual single cylinder, 2 stroke powerplant, although some have been enlarged enough for a motorcycle engine.

By the time you strech & strengthen a go-cart chassis enough to fit this auto angine, you will end up with a buggy.

That's probably that 1600 engine ... PartsAmerica doesn't carry the gaskets, but you can probably get them from Nissan. Or the local parts store can probably order them. It seems that Napa can get anything.
