Hey Andrew's CA18 1200 has flares now!

Did you need to grind the rear arches at all to make them fit? Where did you find them? they look great.

Steve Draheim in Brisbane makes them. He's got a front running Improved Production racecar with CA18DET, and made them for his car, then started selling them. If you want to buy a set, we can give you his details.

While we are on the subject how close would the 1200 flare go to fitting on a 1000 2 door sedan???? I understand i might have to mod them a little but would the shape be close maybe just a little cut and shut??? Thanks

Flares are not widely available for 1200s or 1000s, so the likelihood of someone having already tried this is low.

the 1000 is even more "slab-sided" than the 1200. I think slight curve on the 1200 body (and flares) will be a problem compared to the 1000. Being fibreglass, they are fexible to a degree - you would have to try them for yourself. Or get hold of a 'universal' type flare. They only really cover the top haly of the wheelarch opening, and are quite thin and flexible as they are not molded to suit a particular vehicle.

I read in another thread that you don't want to cut away and material when fitting the flare. This kind of defeats the purpose, and the flare will not be functional - ie you will still be limited in wheel/tyre size by the original bodywork under the flare. It may as well not be there. And they look kinda silly if the flares aren't 'filled out' with some fat rubber.

Thats True harry I dont see the point of running flares without modifying the bodywork.
I have cut basically the entire top of the wheel arch out and pumped the remainder without flares the tyres protrude around 2inches past the standard wheel arch the same goes for the front end. I used to have a multi fit kinda flare from JTS they worked ok but steves flares fit heaps better and really look the part too.
Cheers Andrew

well if you have steve's details that would be great.
I have a set of wheels to go on but far too wide with a scorpian diff. Did you weld up the wheel arches after you cut them? or was it only a small amout you cut out?

Harrywould have Steves details I had them but seem to have misplaced them
The rear wheel arches are like a double skin I cut a fair amount out im pretty sure I didnt have to reweld them (was over 5 years ago) From memory I just folded the edge over and sealed it up then painted over it.
The scorpion diff is very wide thats one reason why I have changed to the H190 I can run a normal offset rim and still be within the guards.FWD ofset rims dotn give you much scope most are ony 6" wide unless you go for the really big ones like 16-17"
Cheers Andrew

i think a few have misunderstood me!!! I will lip out the origianl metal and use the flare as merely a cover over the top for looks as i believe the metal being that flared will not be as aesthetically pleasing as the flare the metal would look very sticking out!!! The flare would look like i meant it not just rolled the gaurd with a peice of pipe!!! I might by them i can modify them if need be!!! I only want to run 205's on the back that only one to two sizes bigger than what can be run with stock body its there cause im want to achieve a japanese circut look to the car!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys
