I have just had my ute diff rebuilt.
All up the cost was $580 this included welding in the Genuine Nissan baffles (part number 43015-25720) new bearings/seals wheel bearings.
I think I got touched as I have to do the final assembly and have to source the gaskets.
Have any of you fellows used a good sealant inplace of gaskets when assembling a diff ??
Any tips would be appreciated.
Cheers Ade

Hi Ade,
If you are talking about installing the diff head into the housing use RTV ( silicon ) instead of a gasket - it works fine.Just make sure that both surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned and that there is no residue oil lying in the housing that could spew out when the head goes in.
Cheers
Dave

3 Bond, the best sealant you can use, it costs about $20 dollars for a small tube, but you pay for quality. It is the same sealant the Japs use on their engines.

3 Bond is not silicone based. Silicon is an acid cure where as 3 bond is a sagless anerobic type. It cures by contact with moisture in the air, about 3 hours, but sets harder and better than silicone.
