Depends on what you are after, but for street use with a stock CA18DET or a warm to Hot A-15 the Stanza 275mm solid disks and alloy Girlock calipers (with dot 4 or 5 brake fluid) are fine...you'll have to really be pushing it for a long time to even get near any brake fade in them. I believe bigger brakes are really only for show for the street...

What about for racing, like a hill climb every few months?

I used the 200B solid 254mmx10mm rotors with twin spot suminto callipers (off a old skyline of some kind they worked great with my A series and very cheap around the $150-$250
I later changed to Honda legend 250x20mm vented rotors with hilux 4 spots SSS automotive suplied the rotors machined ready to go for around the $250 mark a pair say close to $500 all up.
I now have 280x30mm vented gts-t rotors with Z32 alloy 4 spots. a lot of work to get them to fit a fair bit of machine work and some time getting calliper braket's in right spot expect around $1000 mark to get them stoping
All of these are on Stanza struts the top two bolt on with little or no mods.
Cheers Andrew

UTE18L you may have needed high temp fluid.....I flogged mine for at least half an hour on a race track and had absolutely no probs at all.....

Also i cant confirm i have the girlocks, my old stanza set up had em but i have never bothered to check on my new ute.

I'll check tomorrow, do you run dot 4 or 5.

Will dot 5 be alright for street use or will i have to get the fliud hot before any real stopping power is achieved???

Stanza brakes are only 240-odd mm (244 I think), definitely not 275mm.

woodydat, I use Stanza brakes on my coupe. They're fine for hillclimbs, but don't exactly have huge stopping power. They fade after about 3 or 4 laps on racetracks (depending on the track). I use Bendix Ultimate pads, which is what I'd recommend to UTE18L. If you use cheap pads, don't expect much performance.

Converted, the commodore calipers don't fit the Stanza strut.

240K twin spot calipers bolt onto the Stanza strut, and the 240K discs fit the Stanza hub.

Feral also does some good brake conversions for these struts:

I use Bendix pads and fitted new rotors when i fitted the pads.. But maybe not Bendix Ultimate, I want to try the green stuff brand pads next time as i have only heard good things about them from all applications and differant set-ups. But then again 240K sounds the goods, Do you know how big the rotors are???
And are there any mods??? my uncle has a 240K in goulburn and i could pic up the bits and pieces this weekend.

If only i could afford ferals option.

and fitted new rotors when i fitted the pads.
