Hey all,
just a note to let you know that sometimes things just work out . Out searching for new disc brake axles for a diff change, I happened across a ser 3 B/B ultima with a disc brake H190 . Got it from Pick and Payless at Ingleburn for $120 so I'm cheering. Got all the bits I need now for the H190 disc rear on next race car as well as the H165 C20 that is going in the current racecar this week - bit like Christmas (lol). Anyway, that's my excitement for the week - until the new diff and Jeff Taylor springset goes in next week !!!!
Cheers

R-fast what are you powering your car with. Isnt the h165 overkill for an A series?

Nissan didn't think so, as it equipped the later utes with them. But yes, the H145 was used for all types of racing ... it depends on the torque, not the peak HP. For an A15 you need an H150 and with forced induction you probably need something bigger than that ...

B310gx,
thanks for the offer, but I have a 4.6, 4.1, and now a 3.9 . More than enough to keep me amused . Converted, I see where you are coming from as I only run an A14 but it is more the spline size that concerns me on a H145. The extra (slight) axle spline dia. makes me feel a little bit better when using a locked diff. The C20 assembly going in now was behind a A12 commercial so I don't think the horsepower loss will be too drastic. When I raced a Gemini I saw too many early model axles break (similar to H165) but the bigger late model ones (same dia as Torana) were pretty indestructable !!
The next coupe will have a L20 and the H190 will go in there - maybe a bit heavy duty but if Nissan put one under 2 litre bluebirds stock, then the L20 race motor will turn it okay . The extra track doesn't go astray either Thanks to all for the feedback.
Cheers

cant remember if i told you or someone else in another thread, but putting these discs on the back will leave you with rear brake bias, you need a way to regulate the line, like a bias valve or some other cheaper option

Hey 1200rallycar,
yes I think it was during early discussions on this topic that you warned of too much rear bias. I am running Bluebird front and rear with a Sunny booster & m/c and have found it okay. The only rear wheel dramas I have had is under DESPERATE braking and a readjustment of panic pressure puts it back into line! The new car will have bias adjustment for that reason and also for hillclimb tyre warming .Anyway, still pretty good system for a 'bolt on', that's why Datto's rule - so many possibilities with minimum drama !!
Cheers
